Sumner Bays Union Trust Newsletter 1 September 2014
Hi everyone,

Finally it is spring. I’m never sad to see winter end. Just one or two notices today.

Meet the Candidates evening: This is being held this Wednesday 3 September at 7.30 pm in the Sumner Community Centre (old Sumner School hall) on Wiggins Street.

Sumner-van Asch Urban Food Forest working bee: This is being held on Sunday 7 September from 2 pm.  The group says, “We will be transferring some bark to the site, laying some paths and sowing some ground cover crops. Enter van Asch through the gates on Wakefield Avenue and look out for us at the top of the school site towards Heberden Ave. Bring a cold plate to share as we will break for afternoon tea at some point! Bring gardening gloves, spades, shovels and a wheelbarrow if you have them. Don’t forget a water bottle and appropriate sun / rain protection. No experience needed! Families welcome…”

Police vetting: If you are volunteering for a project under the umbrella of Sumner Bays Union Trust and either handle money or work with vulnerable elderly people or children, this is a reminder that if you haven’t already filled out a police vetting form for us, it is Trust policy that you do so. I can email forms to you and you can drop them in to me at the office (or into the letterbox at 99c Main Road, clearly marked for the Trust) or you can come in and fill out a form on the spot at the office. I have a feeling there are volunteers who haven’t yet completed one of these. It will be kept completely confidential – a bit obvious I would have thought, but it’s important you know that we take confidentiality of such things seriously.
Warm regards,

Warm regards,
