Learning Exchange Coordinator position

We are seeking a skilled facilitator to develop a Learning Exchange framework to roll out in the Bays (Sumner, Redcliffs, Mt Pleasant, Heathcote Valley) and Beyond (neighbouring communities – Lyttelton, Woolston etc.) area.

Your role will be to put together a self-sustaining framework so that other people can arrange Learning Events in the area.

You will be a self-starter, highly motivated, with great networking skills. You will need to know how to step back and let other people take the lead as you support and empower them to do so. You will have exceptional people management and strategic experience, including the ability to develop a policies and procedures manual so that it is simple for other people to arrange Learning Events.

What is a Learning Exchange? Check out the Hurunui Learning Exchange – it is a form of community education where people give their time for free to teach others. It is a mixed model of TimeBank membership (using Time Credits) and koha by attendees.

You will need a strong understanding of both the mechanics and the ethos behind TimeBanking as well as community development principles. You will empower and support people rather than do it all yourself.

You will need to understand how to write good reports and report back to the steering group as well as any funders involved on what you have achieved.

Significant experience in community development is essential. The ability to empower others is vital to this role.

This role is an independent contractor position over a six month period.
