On behalf of the Sumner Community Residents' Association & Hub (SCRA) committee, it’s our pleasure to invite you to join us in celebrating the much-anticipated official opening of our new Village Green and Bays Area Skate Park (noting the park will open later this week)!
Join SCRA for a day of community connection:
7:00 AM – We will begin with a whenua site blessing, followed by a gentle yoga session on the stunning new grass, about 7:30 AM (the grass is soft but you may prefer a towel or mat).
Noon Onwards – Enjoy workshops, artisan stall holders, library storytime, live music by the Sumner Silver Band. Bring your own picnic or grab a sausage from the green's new BBQs - alternatively nip to the village for a takeaway.
1:00 PM – Be there for the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an exciting skate demonstration showcasing a range of talented skaters in the new park.
This event's aim is to bring us all together to take the chance celebrate the stunning work undertaken by Hunter Civil and Rich Landscapes, and made possible by the support and funding of Christchurch City Council, Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board, not to mention the dedicated efforts of the Sumner Green & Skate team for bringing this project to reality.
We hope to see you there—don’t forget your picnic rug!
