As an already ‘older person’ with an interest in fitness and health, would like to encourage an active lifestyle for older persons, such as a regular walking group.

I have a lovely partner Ola, who many of you have met while he helps out on the BBQ and at events.

We share 2 cats, 1 super cute Chihuahua who is also a regular at our BBQ’s, and half a dozen chickens who share themselves with the neighbours depending on their whims.

I serve on the Board at SBUT because I believe in community led development and love catching up on all the positive community projects we help grow. The last few years I have been working too much growing my business, but I’m looking forward to enjoying a successful time with the Trust.

In 1971, I left New Zealand to travel and work as a nurse. I married Bryan and settled in South Africa, where we raised three daughters who’ve achieved professional success. I’ve been actively involved in peace initiatives, working with schools, communities, and municipal organizations. My commitment to peace extended internationally, with participation in forums in Japan, Ghana, and the United Nations. These experiences complemented my interest in inclusive thinking and philosophical studies. Simultaneously, I assisted in my husband’s consultancy business. We returned to New Zealand in 2010, settling in Sumner. Here, I engaged in community activities, particularly in the Community Gardens and Food Forest, earning Community Service Awards in 2015 and 2020.

Kia ora koutoa, I’m Christina Rossetter, a local resident and mother of three children who enjoy the community services in our area. As a Board member of the Sumner Bays Union Trust for over a year, my involvement began in 2022 as a volunteer. I contribute to connecting people and promoting activities through my roles in funding applications and digital marketing. Besides serving as the Trust’s Digital Marketing Coordinator, I work as a Careers Advisor and am pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Career Development. In my free time, I love outdoor activities with my family, including hiking, biking, rock climbing, and camping. I’m proud to be part of our vibrant local community and the enriching groups within SBUT.

Kevin Hay

Kevin Hay

I’m Kevin Hay, a retired individual enjoying a loving marriage and two wonderful daughters. My passion lies in propagating old commercial apricot varieties. Our nursery at Heberden Ave and Truro St, a red zone site, marks the beginning of a hopeful orchard. Having leased a red zone site from CCC, I’m keen to assist others in the process and offer ongoing support to community gardens through the Board. In my free time, I delve into tracking down rare apricot and plum tree varieties, finding satisfaction in the art of budding and grafting, contributing to the preservation of these fruits.
